About

About Us

In the beginning . . .

Our journey to growing nutrient-rich, pesticide-free produce began in 2011 when our family began selling home-grown watermelons to help our daughters earn money for school. As subsequent melon seasons attracted more customers, this natural farming venture gradually involved additional family members, friends, acreage, and melon varieties.

Our journey continues as today, as our daughters attend school and are employed in the outside world. We are working to expand our growing season and offer more than just melons once a year. My sister, Gail, and her husband, Matt, have jumped in to partner with us long-distance. So this is still very much a family effort.

How?

An indoor vertical farm – a compact greenhouse and facility to grow natural produce all year. We utilize hydroponics and eventually aquaculture to create a balanced aquaponics system. (We call it a SWAG, a Sustainable Winter Aquaponics Greenhouse.)

Much research and planning went into this project, and yes, along the way, our busy daughters contributed in the field and in the construction.  We made new friends and together we learned plenty. Feel free to follow the various stages of this project through the “Follow Our Greenhouse” link.
